Yolanda explains why she moved from Spain, “I came to Stoke to Stoke to do a PhD at Keele University, due to the lack of opportunities in my country.

Yolanda initially found it difficult and daunting moving, due to the different language and not meeting people who she was comfortable and happy with. She also says, “[..] my first impressions and what caught my attention of Stoke was not find anyone walking around the city. That bought me sadness and fear.”

Since spending more time here her initial fears have gone though, “Maybe for some people Stoke is not the best place, but for me it bought me special moments, situations and people to my life.” She also comments, “Thing thing I like most about Stoke is it’s authenticity, it’s pubs and it’s live music, the people that you can meet here they are always friendly!!”
