Juliana came to Stoke-on-Trent for a placement at the New Vic Theatre in 2010 as part of her studies in Culture and Anthropology at University of Warsaw, Poland. After completing her placement she finished studies in Poland and was invited back and to work at the Theatre. “After that I stayed for a half a year, and after that I stayed for another half a year, and then a year, and that’s seven years now.”
She now works as a Community Animateur with Borderlines, an initiative that helps communities, groups and people who are at risk of being marginalised engage with theatre - whilst helping participants to understand themselves and their situations.
“So when I think about Stoke, I only think about the Theatre. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the Theatre. And it’s like home. It’s like family.”
