Aneta is originally from Poland and had lived in London for one year before moving to Stoke-on-Trent, "My husband already lived in UK for 3 years, I was on my own living with my daughter and running my own clothes shop for a few years.”
“He visited us a few times a year but it wasn’t the same, we just feel like we’re falling apart so I made the decision. I leave everything behind me and just not give up. My daughter was 10 at the time, when we moved to the UK she was quite scared but she picked up English very quickly - I was not so quick!”
After living in London for a year, Aneta was comparing her quality of life and house prices in London with her sister who lived in Stoke. After visiting her sister they decided to move to Stoke in August 2007, ”I didn’t say definitely Stoke is the place, it’s fantastic, it wasn’t like that but I said it’s ok, lets try it.”.
After receiving her BTEC diploma in Art & Design at Newcastle College in 2009, Aneta had her second child. In 2012 she went onto study a degree in 3D Design and graduated from a Masters Degree in Ceramic Design at Staffordshire University in 2017.
Aneta now works as a ceramic designer and artist, since graduating she has worked on commissions for the British Ceramics Biennial and The Donna Louise Hospice. She is now based at Spode Artist Studios, formerly Spode Potteries, “Spode is great for creative people and artistic people, you have a chance to meet other artists, designers, makers and share experience and knowledge.”.
Reflecting on her move to Stoke Aneta says, “I think the move was good for me because it fulfilled my dreams to become an artist so I like Stoke it’s ok. It’s a quiet place and I am quiet. At the moment I am happy with the place, with the house and I’ve got a few friends and nice neighbours,”.
